Kabukye Children Getting Water

Kabukye Children Getting Water

Imagine getting your water here ...

... that's where the children at Kabukye primary school in Uganda get their water. It is polluted and gives them many diseases causing them to be sick and away from school for long periods of time.

Not only is the water unsafe, but the children have to walk long distances to collect it from contaminated surface water sources. The locals use it for everything ... their own water needs, washing their clothes, their bikes, watering their cattle who in turn urinate and defacte in the water thus making it even more unsafe for human consumption.

From our armchairs and with clean safe water in our taps we might be forgiven for asking, 'why would they do that?', but the truth is that when the ony water around is a contaminated surface supply, everyone is forced to use it and it inevitably becomes more contaminated.

Thankfully for most of us reading this, we have never needed to drink from a contaminated surface water source, but what would you do if that was the only water available?

Children at Masara Primary School in Kenya

Masara school children full of hope ...

... they don't have clean water and they live with the knowledge that a quarter of their classmates are off sick at any one time. Tomorrow it might be their turn.

They are full of hope because they know that there is a possibility their school will get a clean safe water supply. They will be able to use it when they want and their families will use it, changing their lives by eradicating the water borne sicknesses they all suffer from.

The mothers will no longer spend hours walking for poor quality water and carrying it back on their heads. They will instead use the school clean safe water supply on their doorstep and begin to focus on more productive activities having been released from the burden of hours of trekking every day for water.

With your help ...

...WellBoring will provide a dedicated water supply for each school and transform the lives of the school children and the surrounding communities.

Our target is to provide Kabukye and Lifeskills primary schools in Uganda and Masara and Miwani Estate primary schools in Kenya with clean safe water, which will cost £16,000 in total.

Please help WellBoring meet this challenge and donate today by clicking the big black 'MyDonate' button below and giving what you can.

and WellBoring will provide a pump like this one at Bukatabira for each of them.
